Trying Something New
Having my master's program focus on literacy, I thought I would just be perfecting those literacy teaching skills throughout the entire program, but I was wrong. By being able to choose elective courses, I was able to try out new technologies, add new "tricks to my bag", and look at different curricula. I feel extremely proud that I was able to redesign two out of four science units in a technology-friendly way, breaking away from the pencil and paper tasks. Another "something new" I was able to create was a new writing unit that currently does not exist in my current writing curriculum. Reflecting back on my master's program, it fills me with joy knowing that I was able to push the limits and step out of my comfort zone to try new things. With trying new things, I feel I was able to master the concept of stepping out of the box to create something new and unique to make learning engaging for my young learners.
