Educator. Traveler. Auntie.
I was raised in Lapeer, Michigan and attended Michigan State University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees (Go Green!). At Michigan State, I studied Early Childhood Development as well as Elementary Education. I enjoyed studying Early Childhood Development at the Child Development Laboratories that Michigan State has in two locations. I was able to learn all about the development of young learners in both three- and four-year-old classrooms.
I completed my student teaching in Lansing, Michigan in an urban school in first grade. After my student teaching, I was a substitute teacher for a few months, was on the job hunt throughout the summer months, and landed my current position as a kindergarten teacher in South Lyon, Michigan in August 2013. |

Outside of teaching my little kinders, I spend my time with family and friends. I recently moved to Royal Oak, Michigan with my boyfriend. Most of our friends live around the Detroit area, and we always enjoy checking out new restaurants that are continously popping up! At least once a month, we enjoy heading a little north to Lapeer to visit with my parents and my brother's family (he has three boys that I adore being "auntie" to!).
I like to think of myself as a world traveler, and am constantly dreaming up new trips to take. To name a few of my travel experiences, I have been to New York City over a dozen times, lived in Dublin, Ireland for a summer (on an internship at an early childhood center), wandered the streets of Paris on three separate trips, ventured throughout London on two separate trips, and have stayed in the jungles of Costa Rica. I am finding beauty in our own country the more I travel here, like my most recent trip down the Pacific Coast in California. I try to bring my travel experiences into the classroom as much as possible!
